Off World Technological Singularity
 The rational behind a Synthetic AI Hand Project is straight forward. The entire human race civilization is built by a pair of hands duplicated over and over again doing the little things that collectively becomes civilization.  The Technological Singularity is coming - but will it arrive in the time frame that it is projected to arrive? Ray Kurzweil is an incredible genius who noted that human technology is evolving at an exponential path - most notably information technology. If this pace were to continue then by around 2035 technological evolution would become exponential and vertical. It means that there is so much technology out there that whatever you try to create or do, someone else is just as capable of downloading the same information to make tools and create the same technology in practically the same amount of time. So cures for cancer for example would be found all over the world by different groups of people in different ways in very short time periods. All technologies will advance at an incredible pace with shorter and shorter delays between discoveries. But is that what will really happen? There is a small possibility that this might not happen as intended. Humans are destined to go into space and colonize space. So if we set up Moon base and Mars colonies, then there is a possibility that the Technological Singularity Curve will reset to include off world enterprise. What that means is that 2035 is not a definite date for Technological Singularity to arrive in its full glory. The off world colonies will also need to be included and so the arrival date of Technological Singularity is delayed. How much delay? This depends on the size of the off world colonies. If the colonies are small, then the delay is insignificant. If there are large off world colonies, or there is large scale migration, then these dates would need to reset. With the rapid pace of technological advances, it may add no more than 10 years to the projected singularity date. However space colonization were to continue to increase during that period facilitated by the technologies created near the singularity, it will keep delaying the arrival date of the singularity further and further. It may never even arrive as we expand to colonize distant stars. This is startling as its not in the 'plan'. |
